The Festival History
We started in 2000 as the Port Humboldt International Film Festival. After sadly co-inciding with 9-11 in 2001, the festival changed ownership to Malcolm West and two other silent partners.
The festival ran until 2009, and then changed its name to Malibu West International Film Festival. Maintained as a small industry-centric event, the new directorship under J.T. Neilson allowed for the festival to move online in a much expanded way.
Still based in Malibu, we are happy to be recognising film-making talent world-wide and are happy to be opening our doors to the world. Due to online bullying/harassment from another film festival in March 2019, we changed our Festival Name from Malibu West International to Los Angeles Motion Picture.
